we were there the fall of 2005

we drove past rodeo drive

and stayed at the w hotel san francisco

where did all that time go?

the beauty of route one

still warms my heart

and makes me want to return

to be reminded of how huge the world is

and the possibilities that open up to you underneath the sheltering sky

is exhilarating

to be reminded that there are still so many places to go

and things to do

and to know that “life is a constant journey ahead” is not just a metaphor

finally decided to do some cross processing with medium format slide film…

other sundays we drive to nurseries and look at plants

so we would trudge around with the gardener and ask questions about creepers.

“how much sun?”

“how fast does it grow?”

we like ferns. we also like bamboo.

“hanging things,” i would announce, “i like those hanging things”

fish

so some sundays we go on a road trip to remote far flung reaches of the island in search of fish

so we would drive and i like to stick the camera next to the car window and hope for a lucky shot

and eventually we would reach the big big fish place.
i like the surroundings more than the fishes

we would return and talk about fishes.

“small ones!” i say

“no, no big ones!” you say
